Divorce

The realization of a divorce can be overwhelming and turn your life upside down. Not only is it emotional, but it's complicated with many questions. How will my assets be split? Who will the kids live with? How often will I see my kids? Who gets the house? Will I get or have to pay child support? With so much at stake, it is critical to retain experienced and trusted representation to guide you through these challenges. At Larsen Law PLLC we are experienced in family law matters and have trial experience in multi-million dollar asset divorces as well as child custody matters.

If you are considering a divorce, do not hesitate to call our office at (615) 567-3072 to set up a confidential consultation.

Legal Separation

Legal separation is an alternative to divorce most often seen where a couple want to separate but need to stop short of an absolute divorce in order for one party to remain on the health insurance of their spouse. Legal separation requires the same process as a divorce. Division of marital assets, child custody, child support, and spousal support will all be decided. An important point to understand is that with legal separation, each spouse can't remarry. If you are considering a divorce or legal separation call our office at (615) 567-3072 to set up a confidential consultation.

Child Custody

Child custody disputes account for large amount of the stress associated with family law matters, and for good reason. For most of us, our children are what's most important. Unfortunately, child custody and the realization that your children will have to split time between both parents is a byproduct of a divorce. In most cases, child custody will be settled by an agreement. Without an agreement, the judge will have to decide custody by determining the "best interests" of the child.

As things change and your children grow, often times, the child custody arrangement needs modification. And, sometimes change is necessary because one parent is not acting in the best interest of the children. Perhaps your former spouse is abusing alcohol or drugs around your children. In that case, it might be time to petition the court to modify the child custody order.

No matter the circumstances, child custody issues require experienced and trusted representation to protect what is most important - your children. Call (615) 567-3072 to schedule a confidential consultation.

Child Support

Child support is required in almost all child custody cases. The State of Tennessee has a specific formula to determine a child support obligation. While this is meant to provide some uniformity to how child support is calculated, it still can be complicated. There are many factors that determine a child support obligation.

Once an order is established, the obligation to pay is a legal requirement. That means that if you fail to pay, you could end up in jail. If you are owed child support and it is not being paid, you have a right to have the court review the situation and ask that the court take action against the parent who owes. At Larsen Law PLLC we handle child support matters and urge you to call our office at (615) 567-3072 to schedule a confidential consultation.

Paternity

Paternity matters encompass situations where an unmarried couple has a child together. Paternity must be established before the court can enter a child custody order. Unfortunately, this leave the father in a powerless position from the time of birth until the paternity action is initiated in court. If you find yourself in this position, please do not hesitate to call our office at (615) 567-3072 to schedule a confidential consultation.

Orders of Protection

At Larsen Law PLLC we have extensive experience in representing both petitioners and respondents in hearings related to orders of protection. An order of protection, if issued, can have several collateral consequences to the person ordered to stay away. For example, if an order of protection is issued against you, the law mandates that you are no longer able to possess a firearm. The order may also limit where you can go and, in some cases, it can prohibit your from having contact with your children. If you are in need of or have been served with an order of protection, please do not hesitate to call our office at (615) 567-3072 to schedule a confidential consultation.

Post-Divorce Matters

At Larsen Law PLLC we handle all post-divorce matters including property disputes, modification of child custody and child support orders, and contempt of court petitions. Call (615) 567-3072 to schedule a confidential consultation.
