Getting Your Driver's License Back in Tennessee

|

If you have had your license suspended, you will know the frustrations of not being able to drive for an extended period of time. It is likely that it affected your job and your ability to generate income. Therefore, of course, you will be eager to take the right steps to get your license back as soon as you can. It is important that you know and obey the law in regard to this so that you do not waste any time.

This blog will provide a brief overview of how the law works in Tennessee and what you must do in order to get your license back.

Suspensions due to points

If you had your license suspended because of the accumulation of points, the period of suspension will depend on the number of points that you acquired.

If you have between six and nine points, you will face a suspension of three to six months. If you have over 10 points, you will have a suspension of six months. If you have committed other offenses as well as the points, you will face up to one year.

Requesting a hearing

If you have to face the suspension of your license, you have the right to request a hearing. After this hearing has been completed, if it results in the suspension of your license, you have the right to make an appeal.

Appeals

If you believe that your license was wrongfully suspended or that you were not guilty of the traffic violations that you were accused of, an attorney can help you in making an appeal.
