Incident outside Gym Leads to Aggravated Assault Charges for 1

|

In some cases, individuals may find themselves facing criminal charges based on the accusations of another party. What may seem like a harmless joke to one person may be viewed as a threat to another person's safety, and a report of such an incident will generally lead to an investigation. A Tennessee man has recently been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly impersonating an officer and pointing a weapon at a woman outside of a local gym.

Authorities received reports of the incident at around 5:45 p.m. on a recent Wednesday evening. A woman claims that upon leaving the gym, a man parked his vehicle outside the establishment and began to scream at her and accuse her of breaking the law. He then allegedly told the woman he was a law enforcement agent and demanded that she provide him with identification.

After asking the man to show his badge, she asserts that he pulled out a firearm and pointed it in her direction before fleeing the scene. Authorities claim they were able to identify the man with the use of surveillance footage, and he was taken into custody several days later. He is currently facing charges for aggravated assault and impersonating a police officer, the penalties of which are severe if a conviction is obtained.

When an individual is accused of crimes such as aggravated assault, he or she may be uncertain how best to approach the situation. Those who face similar charges could consult with an experienced attorney for guidance in navigating the criminal justice system. An attorney can help a client in Tennessee form a strong defense and subsequently assist in pursuing the best outcome possible during court proceedings.
